CanChild Centre for Childhood Disability Research is a multi disciplinary team of researchers and service providers who collaborate to improve the life quality of children and youth with disabilities in their families. The CanChild team includes pediatrics, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology, speech and language pathology, epidemiology and statistics. CanChild was formed in 1989 as the Neurodevelopmental Clinical Research Unit - our name was changed to CanChild in 1998 as it is a more accurate reflection of the research that we do.

Members of CanChild work in partnership with children, youth, families, service providers, policymakers and other researchers to identifying emerging childhood disability issues, conduct high-quality research, and assist in the transfer of knowledge into practice by providing accessible, user-friendly information. Our research mandate is broad, addressing the rehabilitation needs of children and young people with physical, developmental and communicative disorders. CanChild research focuses on three central themes: effectiveness of children's rehabilitation services, measurement in children's rehabilitation, and life experiences of children with disabilities in their families.

McMaster University faculty members in Health Sciences were pioneers in the development of evidence-based practice. Over the past decade, members of the School of Rehabilitation Science have studied, developed and written about evidence - based rehabilitation.

Our resources and expertise come together in the Centre for Evidence-based Rehabilitation. We hope that you find the information resources beneficial.
